WhatsApp Introduces New Features for Android Users
San Francisco, Dec 10 (IANS): Meta-owned WhatsApp is rolling out several new features for Android users, enhancing the messaging experience. These updates include the ability to search messages by date, channel alerts for administrators, and improved navigation labels.
Channel Alerts for Enhanced Transparency
The new “channel alerts” feature aims to assist channel administrators by offering real-time insights into channel suspensions. Administrators can promptly request channel restoration directly through WhatsApp. Users owning channels are advised to check “channel alerts” within the channel info screen to identify any violations, contributing to increased transparency on the platform.
Enhanced User Interface and Search Functionality
The update also introduces improvements to the user interface, automatically hiding navigation labels and the top app bar while scrolling, enhancing the overall user experience. Additionally, users can now efficiently search their chat history by specific dates, saving time and facilitating easier navigation through messages.
Additional Privacy Feature: Disappearing Voice Messages
In a bid to bolster privacy, WhatsApp has introduced disappearing voice messages, allowing users to send voice messages that can only be listened to once before vanishing. This feature aligns with the “View Once” option for photos and videos introduced in 2021, adding an extra layer of privacy to messages.
